My first visit to England was accidentally, but it was the only way to get rid of a troublesome English person while I was on InterRail in 1972.

On my UK trip in -72 I took the longest train ride for a good night sleep. I woke up in John o’ Groats! A natural thing to do was to take the ferry to the Orkneys, I had a great time with my Norwegian flag on my jacket and rucksack. I have later discovered Speyside whiskey, Skye, The Torridon mountains, Cairngorms and Ben Nevis.

I visited Holyhead by rail in -72 and turned around and went to Scotland. But since I started seakayaking Anglesey have been a favourite destination. The rest of Wales is great both for holidaymaking and sport training.
